Large Participation in International Quds Day in Yemen Reflects Support of Palestinian Cause

The principled and consistent Yemeni position towards the Palestinian cause is one that is not controlled by political intrigues, blackmail and media appearances, but it is a position governed by the principle and the justice of the Palestinian cause.

The Yemeni people by history are linked to the Palestinian cause, passed down from generation to generation, unlike the bastard countries whose actions and positions are not governed by principles, values, or morals. They sell and buy their positions and principles for whoever pays more.

What is certain is that the Palestinian cause, despite all attempts at marginalization and exclusion, is still the central issue for all the Arab and Islamic nation and the free people of the world, around which all issues revolve.

Sayyed Abdulmalik: Intl. Quds Day Meant to Raise Awareness on Battle with Enemy

The Leader of the Revolution stressed that the International Quds Day is an occasion to raise the level of awareness, which is the first requirement of the battle with the Israeli enemy.

Delivering an address on Thursday, Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi said Imam Khomeini named the occasion so as to remind Muslims’ of their duty towards the issue of Palestine.

He considered the occasion to be the day of mobilization among all Muslims in favor of the Palestinian cause of liberation from Israeli occupation and aggression.

Sayyed Abdulmalik pointed out that the Zionist entity, and behainded it the Zionist lobby in the world, is an enemy of Islam and Muslims. He pointed out that with the continued efforts of the hypocrites to change the image of the Israeli enemy, the importance of reviving the International Quds Day increases.

"The enemy entity was based on committing crimes, usurping the land, confiscating rights and occupying Muslim countries," the leader added.

The hypocritical regional regimes that have “normalized” their ties with the occupying entity are trying to change Muslim nations’ attitude towards Tel Aviv, he said.

Ring for wife Jithina, Jambia for Akhil, Houthis’ farewell to Malayali captives

“The rebels who had kept us in captivity all these days handed back all our documents, mobile phones, ornaments and other things. Not only these, they gifted a silver ring fixed with a precious stone and a chain studded with precious stones for my wife, a Jambia — a weapon worn by Yemeni men just like the Sikhs’ ‘kirpan’ — and a picture of Dar Al Hajar palace, a stone palace located in capital Sana’a,” said Akhil.

“The only problem in captivity was that all 14 of us crew members were crammed in two small rooms and it was suffocating. They did not allow us to use a phone. However, after every 10-15 days, they allowed us to contact our family members,” Akhil said.

“I also received a gift from the rebels,” said Sreejith. “I was sleeping in my cabin after duty when the rebels barged into the ship. On hearing loud shouting, I woke up and found people pointing AK 47 rifles at me. They asked me to move to the deck. Some of my colleagues also slept in the room but when I woke up, I didn’t see any of them. I saw bloodstain on the floor and fear engulfed me as I suspected my friends were attacked.

After assembling all crew members, they shifted us to a small boat from the ship and moved to the land. They shifted us to a small room somewhere in Sana’a and locked us up. After reaching the room, I understood that nobody was attacked and that the bloodstain was from a rebel after he got injured while climbing onto the ship from their boat,” Sreejith said.

“The rebels never used any angry words. On some days, they took us to our ship and took us back to the room. They tried to learn from us how to operate the ship and the equipment. We think that their plan was to own the ship. That may be why they released us but retained the ship,” Sreejith said. Akhil said the rebels understood that most of the crew members were from India when they the latter were lined up on the ship deck on the first day of captivity. “After that, they showed sympathy to all of us, especially Indians. That might have also been one reason that they freed us,” Akhil said.

SAM calls for an end to restrictions on freedom of movement imposed by the Houthi group on women in the areas under its control and calls the group to enable women to enjoy their basic rights instead of restricting them

SAM Organization for Rights and Liberties stated that the Houthi group continued to impose many restrictions on women in areas under their control, foremost among them freedom of movement which has been experiencing continual reversal and restriction in contravention of international norms and in violation of legal articles which guarantee the freedom of movement without restriction or harassment.

The organization emphasized in a statement issued today, Sunday, that it had monitored many violations which deprive women of enjoying their rights, forcing millions of women to live in a harsh conditions, most notably the deprivation of women from the freedom of demonstration and peaceful assembly, and restricting the freedom of festive gatherings, activities and school trips, except with the written approval of the activities administration as the Houthi militia issued an official circular banning anyone except the father or mother from attending school ceremonies, in addition to a decision banning women from working in restaurants. The group also issued a circular regarding what female students should wear at the university and they prohibited the wearing of open, narrow, short or transparent abaya, and warned against the use of cosmetics or showing long fingernails. The most recent of these violations is a form titled “Consent and Permission to Travel” from the guardian of “women wishing to move within Yemen issued by transport companies in Houthi-held areas, stressing that this step represents an unacceptable abuse on women’s freedom of movement.”

Wikipedia: Houthi insurgency in Yemen

The Houthi insurgency in Yemen, also known as the Houthi rebellion, the Sa'dah War, or the Sa'dah conflict, was a military rebellion pitting Zaidi Shia Houthis (though the movement also includes Sunnis) against the Yemeni military that began in Northern Yemen and has since escalated into a full-scale civil war. The conflict was sparked in 2004 by the government's attempt to arrest Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi, a Zaidi religious leader of the Houthis and a former parliamentarian on whose head the government had placed a $55,000 bounty.

British, Zionist officers arrive on Yemeni island of Abdul-Kuri

An Emirati plane carrying 16 military commanders, including foreigners, believed to be of British and Zionist nationalities, has arrived in the Socotra archipelago, occupied by the UAE, informed sources told Yemen Press Agency on Thursday.

The sources confirmed that British and Zionist military leaders arrived on the island with the aim of putting the final touches on the Emirati-Zionist military base on Abdul-Kuri Island.

The UAE had carried out 90-mile military construction on Abdul-Kuri Island, west of Socotra archipelago, including a dirt runway, sea ports, and roads, in addition to fencing an area as a monitoring center for the Zionist Navy towards the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab Strait near the Horn of Africa during the past six months, after the island’s residents were displaced to Qusayr area in Hadramout province.

The UAE also imposed its control over 6 oil sectors on the Yemeni island of Abdul-Kuri.

Diplomatic sources in the government revealed, on Wednesday, the reasons for sending the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad Al Jaber, members of the new authority loyal to his country to Jeddah and not to Riyadh. The sources stated that the ambassador is seeking to arrange permanent residence during the coming period for members of the Presidential Council, noting that he assigned the Emir of Jeddah to receive the eight members and redistribute them to residences there. Jeddah was the exile of Hadi, head of the “legitimacy” authority of Saudi,

The sources indicated that the Presidential Council will continue to manage the situation from its residence in Jeddah during the coming period, ruling out its return in the near term. In addition to the members of the Presidential Council, the ambassador requested the departure of the foreign minister in a certain government, in an indication of his efforts to keep foreign policy under his supervision.

Yemen’s Tragedy and US-Saudi Maneuvers

The leadership of the PLC has gone to Rashad al-Alimi, one of former President Hadi’s most prominent political advisers since 2014. Prior to that, he was one of the well-known personalities under the previous regime, under which he held various senior positions in the security and intelligence sectors between 2000 and 2011, when he survived a missile attack on the presidential palace in Sanaa. Al-Alimi continued to operate behind the scenes in subsequent years as a leading figure in the government-affiliated General People’s Congress (GPC) and was also one of the initiators of the National Alliance of Yemeni Political Forces (NAYPF), which actively opposed the Houthis rebels.

In addition to cordial relations with a wide range of domestic political forces, al-Alimi has close ties with Saudi Arabia and the US, which has ensured his ascension. Just hours before his appointment, the US special envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, met with him to give him instructions sent from Washington, according to the Arab media. By ensuring the inclusion of influential figures with close military ties in the new Council, the US-Saudi architects of change hope to avoid a repeat of the “fragility of the Hadi presidency.” They also hope to increase stability, if at all possible in the current Yemeni context, by giving the leader of the Council absolute powers, which Council members cannot override.

In addition to the general tasks assigned to the PLC, from the political and military administration of the state, defining foreign policy and facilitating the exercise of government powers, the decision gives the head of the Council exclusive powers, including overall command of the armed forces and “representation of the republic at home and abroad.” Similarly, only the head of the Council will have the exclusive power to appoint provincial governors, security chiefs, high court judges and a central bank governor after consultation with the prime minister, provided that the names are agreed by the PLC members. Similarly, he will be responsible for appointing ambassadors and ratifying laws.

However, the integration of Yemen’s political parties does not appear to have been the main goal of those who organized the transfer of power. The aim is likely to be to form an apparent consensus between the major armed forces on the ground, especially the Giant Brigades, the STC, Saleh’s groups and the forces of al-Bahsani, who oversees the Yemeni armed forces in the second military region and may take over command of the first military district.

However, will the Yemenis, and especially the Houthis rebels, who also want their fair share of power in Yemen, agree to all this? All this can be known after the end of the holy month of Ramadan. But, in any case, the bitter fire of struggle, in which the US and Saudi Arabia are generously pouring gasoline, will continue. In theory, everyone knows that power is not handed over to some unknown council, but is conquered on the battlefield.

The South Front and Center in Yemen Restructuring

The formation of the new Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) is not merely a step forward in the conflict with Houthi rebels, but a major step for southern Yemenis.

After the long-awaited success of the November 2019 Riyadh Agreement, the composition of the council is as important to stability as the transition from Had

Under the structure sought by the PLC with Lamlas as a member of the Cabinet and governor of Aden, there is great potential to expedite developments in the economic and security spheres. This also represents greater share of the responsibility for Lamlas as residents will make their demands directly to the governor. The governor’s efforts may be facilitated by a share of the $3 billion pledged by Saudi Arabia.

Preoccupation with such training may seem trivial compared to major issues ordinary civilians must deal with on daily basis. Yet, protection of the right to free movement and expression and protest are considered vital to human rights organizations observing treatment of civilians. While expecting the PLC to address issues driving the armed conflict, local populations will look for solutions to ordinary problems that directly impact their daily lives.

Report: MbS Forced Yemen's Hadi to Resign over 'Private' Meeting with US Official

Rai Al-Youm, an Arabic language digital news and opinion website, cited an informed Yemeni source as saying that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman (MbS) was aghast with Hadi’s private meeting with Sullivan that took place during the latter’s recent visit to Riyadh without the attendance of any Saudi official.

The source added that MbS "expressed his outrage" by ousting Hadi, who has long been seen as staunchly loyal to the kingdom rulers.

According to the report, Hadi’s two sons, Nasser and Jalal, have been put under house arrest for accumulating staggering wealth and their whereabouts remain unknown.

Saudi Arabia: Allows only one contact with Hadi via the phone of one of his Saudi guards The Saudi authorities allowed a single call to the detained president, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, at his residence in Riyadh, after criticism of the Saudi restrictions imposed on Hadi and his family. The Yemeni news portal (YNP) quoting sources, said Rashad al-Alimi held a telephone connection via one of the guards Hadi Saudis. The sources added that Saudi Arabia continues to prevent Hadi from conducting communications and cuts off communications and the Internet from his residence. The sources indicated that the call announced by Saba News Agency, which is broadcast from Riyadh, aims to ease criticism of Hadi's detention.

[Aden gov.] Yemeni leader: we are abiding by truce despite Houthi violations

Gen Rashad Al Alimi, head of Yemen's presidential council, 'working to provide consensus' to help the country

The chairman of Yemen’s new presidential council has said his government is respecting the ceasefire in the country, despite the Houthi rebels' failure to do so.

“We confirm our adherence to the truce, despite all Houthi militia’s violations,” Gen Rashad Al Alimi said.

He said his council would work to preserve consensus and partnership to help the country.

Meanwhile, the British Ambassador to Yemen, Richard Oppenheim, said the UK had drafted a resolution that could be considered an alternative to UN Security Council's Resolution 2216 on ending Yemen's war, “when there are real consensus on a political settlement between the parties”.

Once that is achieved, the UNSC will be ready to issue the new resolution, he said.

Yemen truce reduces hostilities despite violations, says UN Yemen envoy

Hans Grundberg, the UN envoy to Yemen, said on Wednesday the current truce between warring factions has led to a rare significant reduction of hostilities, despite reports about the mobilization of forces and violations in mainly around Marib.

“We have seen a significant reduction of violence. However, there are reports of some hostile military activities, particularly around Marib, which are of concern,” Grundberg said during a virtual press conference.

“We are currently setting up (a) coordination mechanism with the parties to maintain open channels of communication and help them prevent, de-escalate and manage incidents in support of their commitment to halt all offensive military operations and freeze their positions.”

The official said the UN is not monitoring the truce on the ground and has left the implementation to parties concerned, expressing hope that the truce would pave the way for achieving a comprehensive settlement to end the war in Yemen.

“We need to make the best possible use of the window this truce gives us to work toward ending the conflict. These two months will be a test of the parties’ commitment to reaching a peaceful resolution of the conflict that prioritizes the needs of the Yemeni people.”

Saudis feel 'let down' by US over Houthi security threats

Saudi Arabia feels "let down" by the United States in tackling security threats to the kingdom and wider region by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi movement, a senior member of the Saudi royal family and former intelligence chief said, reports Reuters.

"Saudis consider the relationship as being strategic, but (feel) as being let down at a time when we thought that America and Saudi Arabia should be together in facing what we would consider being a joint, not just irritant, but a danger to the stability and security of the area," Prince Turki al-Faisal said, referring to Houthi missile and drone attacks.

His remarks came in a video interview with Saudi newspaper Arab News published on Monday.

"We've had our ups and downs over the years, and perhaps at this time it's one of the downs, particularly since the president of the United States in his election campaign said that he will make Saudi Arabia a pariah and of course, he went on to practise what he preached," said Prince Turki.

The former ambassador to Washington went on to list Biden's decision to end US support for coalition offensive operations in Yemen, not meet with de facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and "at one stage" withdraw US anti-missile systems from the kingdom, the world's top oil exporter.

Tim Lenderking: Hope in Yemen?

Tim Lenderking: I think this is a very significant development, and I think a number of factors are at play. The Saudis have frankly struggled with this conflict. They have seen their influence diminish in Yemen. They've seen that the Houthis have gained strength on the battlefield. The Houthis are a very determined foe. The Iranians have given support to the Houthis—which is a very unfortunate development for U.S. interests, and ultimately, for Yemenis. So, I think a number of factors have come into play, where the Saudis have really seen the benefit of ending the conflict. Yemen is a contiguous neighbor of Saudi Arabia, so whatever happens in Yemen is always going to matter to Saudi Arabia. We’ve also tried to encourage the Saudis end the conflict, and I think that the international pressure on all sides—including from within the region—is an important factor in why we've gotten to a relatively positive place today.

I think that the Houthis have not been able to impose their will on the ground in Yemen—which is something that they’ve had success in over the last year, particularly their offensive on the city of Marib, about 100km east of Sana`a. There are energy platforms there that the Houthis would like to control.

US New Navy Task Force In Red Sea Mainly Protecting Israeli Enemy

The US Navy has announced the establishment of a "new task force", with allied countries, that will patrol the Red Sea, and its mission has been set "to enhance security in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Gulf of Aden", and more precisely, to "confront arms smuggling to Yemen", which are pretexts for colonial and Zionist ambitions.

Behind this move are two strategic and tactical factors. The strategic one is related to the US-Zionist policy of the necessity of controlling the sea straits and oil sources. As for the tactical factor, it is related to the doubling of the Yemeni force in the Red Sea, and anticipating the possibility of stopping the aggression in order to consolidate the US presence as a fait accompli, as well as the aggravation of the Western-Russian crisis.

In these circumstances and at the field level, Hodeidah, along with Mocha and Bab al-Mandab, becomes within the circle of the direct US-Zionist military threat. The issue of controlling the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, along with the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, is among the main motives for the aggression against our country on March 26, 2015.

An new US-led task force to patrol the Red Sea is a new development in imposing US hegemony on the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The Associated Press claims that the move comes after a series of attacks by what it called the Houthis in Bab al-Mandab.

In this context, it noted that Israeli enemy hasn’t announced plans to join the Combined Maritime Forces though the U.S. Navy has held drills with it, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain in November, which raises questions about the Israeli role in the patrols, and whether it will be announced or not. The US officer, Brad Cooper, refused to say whether Israel had expressed interest in joining the joint command.

The announcement of joint patrols in the Red Sea comes after nearly two months of major naval maneuvers that included sixty countries and organizations under US auspices, in which the Israeli enemy entity participated for the first time along with the UAE, Saudi Arabia, normalized countries and other Arab countries.

US committed to UN truce and ‘better future’ for Yemen, says US envoy

In an exclusive interview with Al-Monitor, Tim Lenderking, US special envoy for Yemen, says the United States can be counted on to continue its strong diplomatic effort in Yemen, but the core responsibilities for peace lie with the parties themselves.

"I am encouraged," said US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking in an exclusive interview with Al-Monitor. The "parties have taken some significant steps here, significant compromises to agree to this truce."

And "the truce is largely being adhered to," he added. "The amount of violence and military activity has dropped off precipitously after April 2. This is a huge development for Yemenis that allows open corridors, more access for humanitarians."

Lenderking, who was appointed envoy on Feb. 4, 2021, credits the Biden administration’s "strong emphasis on diplomacy and restoring key relationships" as instrumental in the recent progress.

Among those "key" US relationships is Saudi Arabia, which Lenderking acknowledges as having some past and present "rough patches."

On Yemen, however, "there is a real determination to work together."

"The Saudis recognize that this war has gone on too long; they are eager to end it," added Lenderking, who served as deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in Riyadh from 2013-2016. "I don’t think they’ll end it on any terms, but they are showing, I think, a real determination and commitment to ending the conflict, and that’s borne out in the compromises that they and the other side have made to protect and nurture this truce."

Asked whether the Biden administration has completed its review on whether to re-list the Ansar Allah movement (known as the Houthis) as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO), Lenderking said, "Humanitarian considerations continue to be an important factor in any decision. … Right now, our focus is on securing the truce, which is having tangible impacts on millions of Yemenis, enabling the flow of essential goods, improving freedom of movement, facilitating humanitarian access and saving lives."

Lenderking referred to reported progress in Iran-Saudi talks in Baghdad last week as "positive" and said that the United States is encouraging Riyadh to "keep at it."

Why the Hell Isn’t Jared Kushner’s $2 Billion Saudi Payment a Big Scandal?

On April 10, the New York Times revealed that Jared Kushner, son-in-law and adviser of the 45th president, secured a $2 billion investment for his new private equity firm, Affinity Partners, from a fund controlled by the Saudi crown prince—even after advisers to the Saudi fund raised serious objections to the investment. The screening panel for the Saudi fund had cited “the inexperience of the Affinity Fund management”; an “unsatisfactory in all aspects” due diligence report; a proposed asset management fee that seemed “excessive”; and “public relations risks.” Yet the panel was overruled by the fund’s board, which is headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s autocratic de facto leader, who, according to US intelligence, green-lit the operation that resulted in the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

It’s damn hard to not see the $2 billion investment as either a payoff for past services rendered or a preemptive bribe should Trump manage to regain the White House. And it could be both. It’s a wonder that the disclosure of this deal hasn’t created more of a fuss and prompted congressional investigations.

CIA Chief Met Saudi Crown Prince Last Month in Push to Mend Ties

Mid-April visit yielded a ‘good conversation, better tone,’ says a U.S. official

CIA Director William Burns made an unannounced trip to Saudi Arabia last month to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, U.S. and Saudi officials said, as the Biden administration pushes to repair ties with a key Middle East security partner.

The visit took place in mid-April in the coastal city of Jeddah, where the Saudi leadership spent much of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. While details of what the two men discussed weren’t available, recent sources of U.S.-Saudi tension include oil production, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Iran nuclear deal and the war in Yemen.

“It was a good conversation, better tone than prior U.S. government engagements,” one American official said of the top U.S. spy’s meeting with Prince Mohammed, who runs Saudi Arabia’s daily affairs on behalf of his 86-year-old father, King Salman.

Mr. Burns traveled to Saudi Arabia with the relationship between Washington and Riyadh at its lowest point in decades.

Ukraine Joins Afghanistan And Yemen In Shaping Gulf Rivalries – Analysis

Last month’s revival of security talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia highlighted the arc that links the Ukrainian and Yemeni wars with the withdrawal.

Saudi Arabia is groping for an exit from an eight-year-long war in Yemen that has cost it significant reputational damage and raised questions about its military capabilities.

The talks with Iran broke off shortly after the US withdrawal. However, they were revived as Russia struggled to achieve some semblance of victory in Ukraine.

The timing highlighted that Iran’s options might be less curtailed by the Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Yemen wars than those of other regional players.

Ukraine has taken Russia out of the equation as a possible guarantor of security or an alternative to the United States as an arms supplier for Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states. That leaves Saudi Arabia worried about its ability to protect itself despite increased military prowess and an armory filled with some of the world’s most sophisticated weaponry, with no good options.

Iraq helps broker Iran-Saudi negotiations

The latest Iran-Saudi talks in Iraq have been the most productive, according to reports.

Iraq hosted the fifth round of Iran-Saudi talks in Baghdad last Thursday. After about a year of dialogue, this meeting showed significant progress as the two countries agreed on a general roadmap for normalizing relations.

In a television interview on April 26, the Iraqi foreign minister, Fuad Hussein, said that the fifth round of the dialogue witnessed great progress and the two parties agreed on several important issues. Hussein has confirmed “the next meeting will be held on a high level.”

Noor News predicted that the two countries' foreign ministries will meet soon. It also acknowledged the role of Iraq and Oman in the process of dialogue between the two countries.

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, confirmed the role of Iraq and Oman on Monday, and predicted that the level of representatives at the talks will be boosted and “there will be faster progress in various areas of these talks."

Fuad Hussein said on Monday that Iran and Saudi Arabia have reached a 10-point memorandum in the latest round of talks. The memorandum includes organizing Iran's participation in upcoming Hajj pilgrimage season, the two countries receiving delegations to visit their embassies and consulates in order to prepare for opening them, and Iran opening its office for the Islamic Cooperation Organization in its embassy in Riyadh.

Tehran, Riyadh make fresh move to bury hatchet and restore ties

After a pause of six weeks, regional rivals, Iran and Saudi Arabia, held a fifth round of tension-easing talks over the weekend, which Tehran described as "positive" and "progressive", Anadolu News Agency reports.

The latest round of peace parleys, hosted by the Iraqi government, saw the participation of senior officials from Iran's top security body and Saudi Arabia's intelligence service, according to official sources.

Confirming the resumption of talks, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said "rapid progress" was expected if negotiations move to a higher political level.

Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, playing the host, said the two sides reached a 10-point memorandum of understanding in the latest round. He said talks between the two sides revolved around security issues and the protracted war in Yemen.

British Ambassador to Yemen: Engaging Civil Society Organizations in Peace Consultations Will Have Positive Results

"The truce in Yemen is a golden opportunity and the parties to the conflict must implement their terms to prepare for a comprehensive and sustainable peace," said British Ambassador to Yemen Richard Oppenheim.

"We continue to work with the UN Office to resolve the dispute between the Presidential Council and the Houthis over passports. We are also focusing on opening roads in Taiz and other governorates to alleviate the suffering of civilians and enabling them to have their right to move freely. British military forces increase presence near Yemeni coast

Great Britain has sent new military reinforcements to the Yemeni coasts, in conjunction with the presence of the United States and other Western powers involved in Yemeni territorial waters, in recent weeks.

The account of the Combined Maritime Forces in the Gulf said on Twitter that the British frigate T-23 arrived in the Arabian Gulf, confirming that the British battleship began its missions on April 20.

The Combined Maritime forces indicated that the frigate would work to support the joint task force known as CTF, conducting maritime navigation in the region.

The British move comes at a time when the United States is reinforcing its presence with the mutual Western powers in the Yemeni territorial waters, in recent weeks, after American forces conducted joint naval patrols in the Red Sea and Arab Sea.

These developments also came in light of British efforts to restore its colonial role in the southern provinces under the cover of the Saudi-Emirati coalition

Advocacy Center for UAE Detainees: Expressing Opinion Is the Most Dangerous Crime in Abu Dhabi

The Center for the Advocacy of Emirates Detainees said that the Emirati authorities view the expression of opinion as the most dangerous crime for public security in the country, and it explains their aggressive behavior against prisoners of conscience and opponents.

The center highlighted that the Abu Dhabi authorities exclude prisoners of conscience from the amnesty decrees they issue on national and religious occasions and holidays, even though they have not committed any crimes.

The center considered that this is an indication that the UAE authorities see the expression of opinion as a crime more dangerous to public security, than murder and violent crimes.

It cautioned that since 2014, the authorities in the UAE have prevented visits to family members, including the children of prisoners of conscience, as well as depriving them of all aspects of celebration.

The Emirates Center for Studies and Media (EMASEC) said that the injustice caused by the authoritarian approach of the ruling regime in Abu Dhabi, and the issue of prisoners of conscience undermine the stability of the Emirates.

The Center stated that stability in the state is achieved in the absence of injustice and enabling the authorities to establish a just system that preserves rights, borders and the law of justice.

EU Statement on Approval of the 2022 Yemeni Budget

The Delegation of the European Union issues the following statement together with the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States accredited to Yemen:

The Delegation of the European Union welcomes the adoption of the 2022 Yemeni budget by the Parliament on 21 April. This is a major step in line with other recent positive developments in the economic field.

We welcome recent steps taken by the Central Bank and encourage the Presidential Leadership Council and the Government of Yemen to prioritise economic and financial reforms and service-delivery to the Yemeni people. Sound, credible and inclusive reforms and policies coupled with improved transparency are essential to improve the confidence of Yemenis and the international community.

It is important to ensure regular payment of salaries for civil servants and the continuity of delivery of basic services as well as strengthening state institutions. We will continue to engage with all parties to promote the unity and cooperation among economic institutions across the country.

My comment: ?????????

Comments: Most of this budget will be spent in Riyadh for the exiled regime and their relatives. The rest will go to diplomats around the world to promote their "legitmacy" and and for social media activists to defend the Saudi coalition and justify/undermine their war crimes in Yemen.

EXPLAINER: Why are foes Turkey and Saudi Arabia fixing ties?

WHAT’S BEHIND TURKEY’S DIPLOMATIC PIVOT?

Turkey’s diplomatic drive coincides with the country’s worst economic crisis in two decades. Having wealthy Gulf Arab states as allies can help draw investments. Turkey has also taken steps to improve relations with Egypt and Israel.

After mending ties with the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi announced a $10 billion fund to support investments in Turkey and made other moves to support the economy.

Official inflation stands at a staggering 61% while the lira tumbled 44% in value against the dollar last year. These figures do not bode well for Erdogan, whose grip on power could be threatened by the country’s economic woes. Turkey is scheduled to hold elections next year.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is enjoying a bumper economic year with its foreign reserves expected to climb. Higher energy prices are forecast to rake in more than $400 billion of revenue this year for the kingdom. In other words, Saudi Arabia has capital to invest in Turkey.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR SAUDI ARABIA?

Saudi Arabia’s change of heart comes as the kingdom seeks to broaden its alliances at a time when relations between Riyadh and Washington are strained.

Erdogan's Saudi Arabia trip could be a game changer for Middle East

Turkish President Erdogan's two-day trip to Riyadh will most likely boost bilateral ties but what's more crucial is that it could change the security situation for the entire region, from Iran to the war in Yemen

Ahead of Erdogan's visit, Ankara has done a lot to improve ties with the fellow Sunni Muslim powerhouse. For one, it toned down its criticism over the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

In turn, Saudi Arabia's imports from Turkey rose by 2.8 % in the first two months of 2022. In the previous year, imports from Turkey had plummeted by 62.3% to 3.32 billion riyals ($886 million, €844 million).

As a next step of reconciliation, Turkey in April moved the trial against 26 Saudi suspects in connection to the Khashoggi case from Ankara to Riyadh, despite widespread criticism by rights groups and Khashoggi's fiancee Hatice Cengiz.

Yemen’s Last Jews

Between forced conversion and emigration, the Jews of Yemen have all but disappeared from the region.

Once a bustling community at the very heart of Arabia, Yemen’s Jews came to settle in the land long before Islam ever graced the shores of the Hijaz (today known as Saudi Arabia).

The most ancient minorities to ever have settled in Arabia Felix (Yemen’s ancient name), the Jews of Yemen played an instrumental part in the development of the country, helping to shape the nation’s culture, history, and socio-economic advancements.

Today, the Jews of Yemen have all but disappeared from the region.

Unlike many other Jewish communities in the region, the Jews of Yemen enjoyed relative peace with their Arab neighbors, free to practice their faith. That changed in 1922 when an ancient Islamic practice was revived calling for the forced conversion of orphans to Islam. As the decades rolled on Yemen’s Jews came to face increased violence and state-run oppression, forcing many to abandon their homes for safer shores.

The birth of the modern State of Israel in 1948 would come to upset Yemen’s delicate religious status quo, putting sectarianism at the center of a heated political and religious debate – one which would be punctuated by violence and the mass return to Israel of thousands of Yemeni Jews. Between June 1949 and September 1950, in Operation “Magic Carpet.” an estimated 45,000 Jews , almost the entirety of Yemen’s Jewish community would leave their home, never to return.

Today only a few remain.

Yemen Joint Market Monitoring Initiative: March 2022 Situation Overview

The JMMI is a monthly survey of market systems. The basket of goods assessed includes 10 non-food items (NFIs), such as fuel, water, and hygiene products, reflecting the programmatic areas of the WASH Cluster.

Key findings

After an increase in fuel prices measured since January, fuel prices were still rising between February and March. Prices of diesel and petrol reached up to 1800 YER per litre (Bajil, al Hudaydah). The median price of cylinder of cooking gas increased with 50% in IRG areas and with 123% in DFA areas, reaching prices above 20,000 YER to fill an empty cyclinder full in monitored districts in Sana'a City and Lahj.

54% of fuel vendors reported a shortage of supplies. Relatedly, the interviewed food and WASH vendors and water truckers reported high fuel prices and fuel shortages as their most frequently faced constraints, aside to price inflation of general commodities and services.

The median price of the food SMEB with canned beans stood at 114,363 YER (+24%) in the IRG and 57,200 YER (+4%) in the DFA. The highest price hike of monitored food items was wheat flour (+33%) in the IRG and sugar (+25%) in the DFA.

The cost of the WASH SMEB was found at 26,525 YER (+10%) median in the IRG and 17,718 YER (+1%) median in the DFA.

After two months of relative reappreciation, the exchange rate in IRG was found to deappreciate between February and March (+18%), it stood at 1249 YER/USD in the first week of March.

Al Qaidah, the CIA and my Father, the Secret Agent

Assertion

Through the lottery of birth & at the age of fifty I finally realised my Father, John MarlandHeaford, was a spy. His engineering export business (manufacturing and selling printing machinery worldwide) was used as a front for CIA and SIS (British Secret Intelligence Service) operations. My Father and Mother (both company directors) chose to involve their children in these clandestine activities, most speciaically sending me to Yemen in 1997, where I met their customer, the most prolific terrorist mastermind of the 1990s – Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. This letter lays out how that came about.

Summary

I know first-hand who financed, hosted and supplied Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the most prolific international terrorist mastermind of the 1990s. They were the Hayel Saeed Anam Group, DaveDean (a CIA linked ex-Special Forces soldier) and indirectly my own Father. I also know that my Father’s second Queen’s Awards for Export Achievement was awarded in1994, a year after his first machine sale to the terrorist supporting Hayel Saeed Anam Group inYemen. My evidenced testimony exposes the Deep State in its entirety; from ex-Special Forces frontline operators like Dave Dean, to billionaire terrorist financiers such as the HSA Group, and the intermediary business entities that act as brokers and enablers between the two – my Father for example. The awards and endorsements bestowed on my Father for his work by the British state and its monarch are in the public record.

Conclusion

The Deep State operates in plain sight, comprised of elements of the security and civil services whose loyalty is to the British Crown (the royal family) rather than the nation. It serves and is financed by business interests maintained by a web of accountants in offshore tax havens. It operates in society (controlling the judiciary and police) through shadowy cliques such as the Freemasons, the Society of Merchant Venturers and other such self-interest groups. The Deep State allowed 9/11 to happen because it helped maintain & extend their powers.

On Thursday, al-#Qaeda in #Yemen published a new statement detailing the release of 10 of its leaders from a maximum security prison affiliated with the Saudi forces on the border with Yemen. This coincides with a prominent leader in the “legitimacy” revealing Saudi directives to officially close the escape file of these elements and end their pursuit. Special - Yemeni news: The organization indicated that the exit process took place according to a tight plan, which it did not reveal its details, expecting similar operations, indicating that it expected more smuggling operations of leaders. The organization confirmed that the fugitives had actually reached its strongholds, without revealing their destination. The organization’s statement came at a time when the counselor at the embassy in #Riyadh, Anis Mansour, revealed that Saudi Arabia had directed a memorandum to the political and national security in #Yemen asking them to stop pursuing fugitives from Seiyun prison. In terms of timing, the statement refers to the organization’s attempt to stave off the Saudi scandal by releasing its leaders by portraying the escape process as if it had been planned by the organization and not in agreement with the Saudi forces that oversee the prison in Seiyun. Two days ago, the transitional factions released two of these leaders while they were trying to leave Lahj by sea, hours after their detention, amid news of the Saudi ambassador's instructions to do so.

The Saudi War of Necessity in Yemen

It is imperative for Saudi Arabia to preserve peace in Yemen and to eliminate any strategic threat on its borders, regardless of the duration and the cost.

When it comes to national security, there should be no compromise. Therefore, Saudi Arabia’s stance on protecting Yemen’s sovereignty remains unequivocal. A cursory glance at the map immediately reveals Yemen’s relevance to Saudi Arabia. Yemen has always been and will remain a strategically critical neighbor of Saudi Arabia and therefore is a key element in Saudi Arabia’s security framework, which cannot be separated from the Saudi strategic planning.

Saudi Arabia and the GCC have reached a conclusion that the Houthis sought to establish an Iranian front south of the Gulf region, similar to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Following the Houthi takeover of Sana’a, the severity of the threat quickly became apparent as well as the likely devastating effects both on Yemen and on Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia remains committed in its efforts to positively engage Yemen, even as it strives to diminish Houthi capabilities in order to maintain the internationally recognized government. Saudi Arabia provides immense assistance inside Yemen and to the government to sustain public order and internal unity, and has established a specialized center to provide humanitarian relief inside Yemen and other areas – by Major General (ret.) There is no truce in Yemen. There is a quiet Houthi war that the media is silent about

While the Arab Coalition has truly halted its defensive airstrikes in assistance to the Yemeni army in Marib since the beginning of last month, Houthis have never stopped hostilities against the eastern city and western towns remaining outside the Shiit militia's control.

Despite a western-brokered "truce" and pressure on the Arab Gulf states to offer more good gestures for the Shia including cessation of aerial help for the unarmed Yemeni army's defensive operations, the Shia continue their expansionist war in the key frontlines of Taiz, Marib and Hodeidah.

Yemen, a bone of contention as Iraq sees near end to Iran-Saudi tensions

Possible normalisation of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran requires Tehran to take practical steps to build confidence, and among these steps is to pressure the Houthi militias to reach a realistic political settlement of the Yemeni crisis that has erupted eight years ago.

The conflict in Yemen is one of the most prominent burning files for Saudi Arabia, because this file is closely related to the kingdom’s national security.

Riyadh realizes that Tehran is using Yemen and the Houthi militias as a pressure card to blackmail and threaten the Kingdom. Therefore, if Iran really wants to normalise relations, it must work to facilitate peace efforts and end its support of the Houthis.

There is no truce in Yemen. There is a quiet Houthi war that the media is silent about

The Shia militants engaged the army in six hours of fierce confrontations in Al-Kassara front west of Marib yesterday, the Eid Al-Fitr festivity day, trying to gain advances into the city and 40 fighters from both sides were killed and injured, as local sources said.

In the same day, the militants besieging the western Yemen Taiz city launched an unprovoked salvo of rockets and mortar rounds on neighborhoods in the east of the city causing families to evacuate their houses and seek shelters.

In the country's north, the militia heavily bombarded army positions in Aljadafer front, in Aljawf province, killing a soldier and injuring two others.

Since the Stockholm Agreement of December 13, 2018, a ceasefire has been in place for Hodeidah. There are no major offensives, but smaller battles are ongoing and both sides constantly are accusing each other of violating the ceasefire.
